Call for Nominations/Applications: Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology

Nomination/Application Deadline: October 15, 2019

The IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) invites nominations and applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology (TNANO). The Editor-in-Chief appointment is for a two-year term starting January 1, 2020, renewable twice, for a total of six years.

The IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology is devoted to the publication of manuscripts of archival value in the general area of nanotechnology, which is one of the fastest growing and most promising technological developments for the next generation and beyond. There has been significant progress in the field of nanotechnology for the last decade; but, we do not see yet major breakthroughs to change the field’s paradigm and the field is still growing. We will closely monitor the progress of the nano field and will further revise the scope, as needed, to reflect the reality of the discipline.

The candidate must be a member in good standing of the IEEE. He/she must have served as an Associate Editor or in an editorial capacity for an archival journal or magazine and should possess a good understanding of industry, academic, and government aspects of TNANO’s field. In addition, the candidate must not only demonstrate the managerial skills necessary to process manuscripts through the editorial cycle in a timely fashion, but also be able to attract respected experts to his or her editorial board. Major responsibilities include:

  • actively soliciting high-quality manuscripts from potential authors and, with support from publication staff, helping these authors get their manuscripts published;
  • identifying and appointing editorial board members, with the concurrence of the NTC Executive Committee;
  • selecting competent manuscript reviewers, with the help of editorial board members, and managing timely reviews of manuscripts;
  • directing editorial board members to seek special-issue proposals and manuscripts in specific areas;
  • providing a clear, broad focus through promotion of personal vision and guidance where appropriate; and
  • resolving conflicts or problems as necessary.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the Council’s Vice President-Publications. He/she chairs the Editorial Board for the publication and serves on and is a voting member of the Council’s Publications Committee. The initial term of service will be from 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2021.
