OJ-NANO Special Issue on “Materials and Devices towards Advanced Flexible Sensors”

CALL FOR PAPERS:
SPECIAL ISSUE/SECTION

IEEE Open Journal of Nanotechnology (OJ-NANO)
Special Issue on

“Materials and Devices towards Advanced Flexible Sensors”

Flexible electronics is a technology diverging from the conventional rigid silicon technology and has stimulated fundamental scientific and technological research efforts. Remarkably different from generation 1.0 electronic products, the current smartwatch, smart wristband, the next-generation flexible electronics open up a wide range of exciting new applications such as 1) flexible lighting and display technologies for consumer electronics, architecture, and textiles; 2) wearables with sensors that help monitor our health and habits; 3) implantable electronics for improved medical imaging and diagnostics; 4) as well as extending the functionality of robots and unmanned aircraft through lightweight and conformable energy harvesting devices and sensors. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, flexible electronics devices have shown great potential for remote interaction through real-time on-body monitoring, wireless transmission, and cloud diagnosis.

“Flexible Sensors”, as one of the most important elements of advanced flexible electronics, are required to be engineered with advanced processes and materials so that they can directly contact with the skin, and having other important and non-conventional device properties such as adequate adhesion, good conformality, breathability, biocompatibility, etc. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, biology, and physics at practical levels are critical in developing advanced flexible sensors.

We are now seeking your contribution (minimum 6 pages of manuscript) for a special issue on “Materials and Devices towards Advanced Flexible Sensors” in the IEEE Open Journal on Nanotechnology (OJ-NANO). The aim of this Special Issue is to serve as a forum for disseminating innovative research and developments in the emerging field of the multi-functional and ubiquitous flexible sensors. Papers addressing this technology and review articles providing critical viewpoints are sought, including, but not limited to, flexible inorganic/organic materials, fundamental issues and advanced simulations underlying flexible systems, fabrication and integration technologies for flexible sensors, and studies on real-time applications of wearable devices.

Manuscripts for OJ-NANO must be prepared using the “IEEE manuscript template” and “Information for Authors” at https://oj-nano.ieeenano.org/submitting-an-article/, and be submitted on-line via Manuscript Central (https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/oj-nano). On submission to OJ-NANO, authors should select the “Special Issue: Materials and Devices towards Emerging Flexible Sensors” as a manuscript type instead of “Regular Paper.” Manuscripts must focus on nanotechnology as reflected by technical contents and references.
