This annual award (established in 2022) recognizes individuals with outstanding and innovative contributions to the different areas of nanotechnology that are represented by technical committees (TCs) as organizational entities of the Nanotechnology Council (NTC), usually within the past 10 and not more than 15 years. Note: Nominations from any member of the NTC Technical Activities Committee within the last three years (including the nomination year) ONLY. No self-nominations. The awardee(s) will be selected by a committee composed of the Chair and 3 members. The Chair is recommended by the NTC VP of Technical Activities and then approved by the NTC President; members of the committee are recommended by the Chair and then approved by the NTC President.

Eligibility

Nominated individuals must be an IEEE member and NTC participant for at least 4 years and an NTC TC member for at least 2 years. The award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of nanotechnology within the last 15 years, where the nomination's year is counting as the first of the last 15 years.

Voting members of the NTC Executive Committee (ExCom) and previous award winners in the same technical area are not eligible for the award. Also, previous awardees of IEEE Nanotechnology Council Technical Achievement, Pioneer and Early Career Awards in Nanotechnology are not eligible for the award.

Selection / Basis for Judging

Each member of the committee, evaluates each nominee on several aspects, including but not limited to: impact, quality of technical accomplishments and NTC technical activities, relevance of the topic, its influence in nanotechnology based communities in at least one research topic in nanotechnology.

The Chair will generate for each nomination a scoring table (with averages) reflecting the scores of the voting members of the committee. The range of the score by each member of the committee is from 0-5. The range of the score by each member of the committee is from 0-5. The Chair will generate for each nomination a scoring table (with averages) to be distributed to voting members of the Committee. Prize

Up to 3 awards will be presented each year. Each award consists of an honorarium of $500 and a certificate.

Presentation

The awards will be presented at the annual IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology (NANO) banquet. Attendance is mandatory to receive the award, but no travel allowances are provided.
