We are proud to announce that the 19th IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference (NMDC) will be held in lovely Salt Lake City, Utah, USA October 22 to 25th of 2024. You may recall the beautiful scenery broadcast during the 2002 Winter Olympics which were held in the Wasatch Mountains (Rocky Mountains).  Utah still boasts being a wild western state; it is almost the size of Romania with roughly only 15% the population. Most of Utah’s population lives along a corridor between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains.  As the Utah population is condensed, our light rail system permits easy inexpensive travel from the Salt Lake International Airport to out conference hotel, the Radisson Downtown. In addition, there are many alternative hotels and many restaurants in walking distance or along the light rail lines.

IEEE NMDC 2024 will be the perfect stage to promote research from all across the world.

NTC Young Professionals Reception held at NMDC 2023

During IEEE NMDC 2023 Conference, a reception was hosted for the Young Professionals (YPs) and students which a unique gateway to the world of nanotechnology and materials science. Organized by the IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC), a unique Social and Networking event allowed YPs to connect, in a relaxed atmosphere, with leading experts and senior scientists, while expanding their professional network, exploring career prospects, and gaining valuable insights into IEEE and NTC.  NMDC 2023 was a remarkable opportunity for YPs and students to enhance their careers, broaden their horizons, and experience the vibrant IEEE community firsthand.

NTC Call for Applications for NMDC 2023 Support

Call for Applications for NMDC 2023 Support

The IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) is pleased to call for applications for student and young researcher support to attend the 18th IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference on 22-25 October 2023, in Paestum, Italy. (https://ieeenmdc.org/)

Eligibility: Candidates must be

  • Female, Ukrainian citizens, and currently resident in Ukraine
  • Students (usually PhD but not necessarily) currently attending an educational institution in Ukraine, OR Young Researchers (less than 10 years from PhD graduation) currently working in nanotechnology in Ukraine

Grantees will be required to submit a 2-page abstract in Papercept for presentation as a poster paper at NMDC.

Support will include:

  • Registration waiver
  • Hotel accommodation for 4 nights (October 22nd-25th)
  • Meals (including the Conference Dinner)
  • Travel expenses

Paestum is a World Heritage site south of Salerno which is south of Naples.

  • Verification of eligibility criteria
  • Short CV (2 pages but longer OK)
  • Travel budget
  • Title and short description of the poster paper (NOT the 2-page version, about 150 words OK)

future sites for IEEE-NANO 2026 and IEEE NMDC 2025

A. Call for proposals for future site for IEEE-NANO 2026

Initial Proposal Deadline: 1 October 2023

The IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE-NANO) is the flagship IEEE Nanotechnology conference. The conference scope covers a wide range in nanoscience and technology. In particular, it covers nanofabrication, nanomanufacturing, nanomaerials, nanobiomedicine, nanoenergy, nanoplasmonics, nanoelectronics, nanosensors and nanoactuators, characterization and modelling of nano structures and devices. NANO 2023 was held in Jeju Island, Korea. Recent conferences were in the Balearic Islands, Spain (2022), Macau (2019), Cork (2018), Pittsburgh (2017), Sendai (2016), Rome (2015), and Toronto (2014). NANO 2020 and 2021 were held virtually due to the pandemic. NANO typically runs between early- to mid-July. We are now seeking proposals for IEEE-NANO 2026 which is expected to run in IEEE Region 10 (Asia & Pacific).

Early indication of an intention to submit a proposal is strongly recommended. Candidates for NANO 2026 will be expected to present a 5-10 minute “Proposal in Preparation” based on their initial proposal at the Fall NTC Conference Committee meeting, and a complete proposal at the NTC Excom and AdCom meetings in July 2024 held at IEEE-NANO 2024 in Gijon, Spain.

Call for Proposals for Future Site for IEEE NMDC 2025

Initial Proposal Deadline: 30 April 2023

The IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference (IEEE-NMDC) aims to develop critical assessment of existing work and future directions in nanotechnology research from every sector in the nanotechnology research field, with a special focus on materials and devices. NMDC 2023 will be held in Paestum, Italy. Past locations of the NMDC have been in Asia (Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore), USA (California, Michigan, Hawaii, Alaska, Portland), Canada (Vancouver, BC) and Europe (Sicily, France, Stockholm). NMDC typically runs between mid-September and mid-October, with the later dates preferred since IEEE NANO runs in late July.

We are now seeking proposals for IEEE-NMDC 2025 which is expected to run in IEEE Region 10 (Asia and Pacific). For conference history, visit https://ieeenano.org/nmdc.

PROPOSAL FORMAT:

Initial proposals should be prepared in PowerPoint presentation format. An NTC Conference Proposal Guidelines and a PPT template are available upon request. Proposals should cover:

  • Venue: City (or nearby city for rural locations); visitor access (e.g., daily flights,) with typical travel costs; hotel costs (including wi-fi, breakfast, etc.); tourist information
  • Facilities: Hotel or campus venue if known (with verification of availability for formal proposals); lecture theater and meal capacities
  • Personnel: General Chair(s), Program Chair(s), Treasurer, other volunteer personnel (e.g., program/advisory committees), if known, and any administrative staff or management company
  • Budget information:
    • For informal proposals: Target registration rates, estimated number of attendees, estimated income (registration, tutorials, exhibition, grants/donations, etc.), estimated expenses (meals/receptions/breaks, administrative costs, etc.), other features of interest.
    • For formal proposals: As above, but with more detail covering all budgeted income and expenses in the required IEEE NetSuite spreadsheet format. Note that the (Income-Expense)/Expense ratio must be at least 20%, in accordance with IEEE policy.

Important Note: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, the Local Organizing Committee had to make the difficult decision to postpone IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference (NMDC 2022) a month to Nov. 17-20 (refined dates) to ensure the safety and well-being of the conference’s multinational community of attendees. The conference is also on the process of preparation as planned. 

The IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference will be first time to held on-site in Mainland of China, on October November 17-20, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Nanjing Qinhuai South, China. It will bring together key researchers from every sector in the nanotechnology research field, with a special focus on Materials and Devices. Conference papers will be published in IEEE Xplore after passing peer-review, with limited invitation for submission to IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology or IEEE Nanotechnology Magazine. There will be special sessions for best posters, graph contest, young scientists, women in engineering and entrepreneurs.

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province of the People’s Republic of China and the second largest city in the East China region. Located in the Yangtze River Delta region, Nanjing is a prominent city rich of Chinese history and culture.
