The second International Conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales (MARSS) is held from 17-21 July 2017 in Montréal, Canada.

This recently-established annual conference is managed by a high-level Steering Committee and technically supported by IEEE-RAS and IEEE-NTC. The Steering Committee has the ambition to develop MARSS to the flagship event for cross-disciplinary R&D communities to discuss current activities in all areas related to manipulation and automation (including measurement and characterization) at micro & nano scales, and in all kinds of small scale robots and their applications.

General Chair: Sylvain Martel (CA), Program Chairs: Fumihito Arai (JP), Dave Cappelleri (US), and Antoine Ferreira (FR).

 


 

17th IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE NANO 2017)

Early registration is open for the 17th IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE NANO 2017) will be held July 25 – 28, 2017 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center in Pittsburgh, USA.

IEEE NANO 2017 will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, interaction, networking and collaboration for research and development in nanotechnology with special attention to the latest advances in nanotechnology.

The 2017 IEEE N3 Summer School will be held in Montréal, Canada, from Monday, June 26 till Friday, June 30 2017.

The aim of the school is to provide graduate students and early career researchers in nanotechnology a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin the properties of nanomaterials, the opportunities afforded by advanced characterization tools and the prospects of nanoscale devices.

Our lectures will be structured so as to impart a broad set of concepts, starting from the design of nanomaterials, their synthesis using various approaches, the characterization of their structure and properties, their integration into devices and device testing and optimization.

Registration of the 2nd international course, the IEEE 2017 Summer School on “Nanoelectronic technologies and devices: From basic principles to highly reliable applications” on July 10-14 2017 is open now. Early registration deadline is May 26. It is strongly supported by the IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) and organized by IRT Saint Exupery and Laplace Laboratory in Toulouse (France).

Held in Toulouse (France) – world center for aeronautics known as Airbus valley – European capital of the space industry and number 1 in France for embedded systems.

The course is oriented to PhD students, post-docs and young engineers from industries, and will give strong insight on the various fundamental and industry application themes.

A large number of tutorials will be given by professional’s distinguished lecturers and by high-ranking members of the industry and academic.

The course will give strong insight on the following themes:

  • Introduction to nanoscience and nanotechnology applied to semiconductors and concept descriptions in solid-state physics of semiconductors, nanoelectronics and related material technology (CMOS bulk, FinFET, SOI, FD-SOI, Nanowire and Carbon nanotube transistors, 3D packaging).
  • Notions in the fundamental solid-state physics of Wide-Bandgap semiconductor devices (GaN, SiC).
  • Aeronautics, space and automotive applications with strong emphasis to give fundamental description of what the impact of harsh stress environment on nanoelectronics reliability engineering and Product Life Cycle are.
