Election Result – VP Publications

The Nanotechnology Council is pleased to announce the winner of the special election for VP Publications was Yonhua (Tommy) Tzeng.

TommyTzengTzeng is a Fellow of the IEEE and Professor and Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and University Chair Professor of Institute of Microelectronics at National Cheng Kung University, the second largest major research-intensive comprehensive university with 22,000 students in Tainan, Taiwan.

Dr. Tzeng’s IEEE activities include serving the IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) as VP for Technical Activities (2005-2007), VP for Publications (2008-2009), and General Chair of 2014 IEEE NMDC in Tainan, Taiwan; Chair of Technical Committee on Nanotechnology for IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and Chair of the ExCom for the International New Diamond and Nano Carbon Conference.

Tzeng looks forward to serving NTC for a second time as VP Publications, his goals include:

(i) Promotion of IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology’s (TNT) impact factor and establishing a well received web presence for NTC and building an online database and search engine for promoting the visibility and citation of TNT.

(ii) Promotion of the new IEEE Nano Express journal into a true top-ranked nano-engineering journal by proactively invite outstanding and highly cited authors to submit original and review papers.

(iii) Transformation of IEEE Nano Magazine into a paper-online hybrid publication together with EIC of Nano Magazine.

(iv) Close collaboration between engineers of NTC and scientists in nanotechnology around the world, such as worldwide Materials Research Society members.

(v) Increase the willingness of publication by participants of NTC conferences by feeding them with valuable information of prior NTC publications.

(vi) Working with NTC volunteers to expand and increase regional interest groups and local chapters of NTC to diversify and increase the publications of sponsored technical activities.

(vii) Expanding industrial publications in NTC journals and magazine. An industrial promotion task force will help invite technologists to join forces with scientists and engineers in academia and research institutes in transforming nanotechnology to high-value industries.
