BIO

Professor Maksym Pogorielov is a distinguished researcher specializing in biomaterials and nanotechnology, focusing on nanomaterial-based solutions for tissue engineering, anticancer treatments, and antibacterial strategies. He holds a Doctor of Science degree in Medical Sciences, which he earned for his work on chitosan-hydroxyapatite composites for bone defect treatment. Currently a senior researcher and head of laboratory of Advanced Biomaterials and Biophysics at the University of Latvia, he has led and partnered on numerous international research projects, including Horizon, M-Era.Net and Era4Health initiatives, securing multimillion-euro funding. With over 110 publications indexed in SCOPUS and a h-index of 25, he is also an experienced mentor, having supervised multiple PhD students. Dr. Pogorielov is an active member of professional societies and serves on expert panels for journals and funding bodies.
