IEEE NAP-2021 International Conference “Nanomaterials: Applications & Properties” Update

Reminder: abstracts submission deadline (June 14th, 2021).

The 2021 IEEE International Conference NANOMATERIALS: APPLICATIONS & PROPERTIES (IEEE NAP-2021) to be held on Sept 5-11, 2021, at the beautiful Gagarinn Hotel! To start your submission today, visit our conference website or follow a direct link here: https://nap.sumdu.edu.ua/index.php/nap/nap2021. After 15+ months of the COVID-19 pandemic and telecommuting, we are finally turning the corner. It is time to experience a “real” scientific meeting and professional and social networking! Thus, we encourage all potential attendees to get vaccinated (if they have not already done it yet) and join us at the #IEEENAP Conference, co-sponsored by the IEEE Nanotechnology Council and Sumy State University, supported and endorsed by IEEE Magnetics Society, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics IUPAP!

COVID-19 update:
In line with guidance from local and international public health authorities, the conference hotel is relaxing some on-site COVID-19 controls. Namely, fully vaccinated guests no longer need to wear a face-covering or socially distance (individuals is considered to be fully vaccinated two weeks after their final vaccine dose). Non-vaccinated guests are also welcome, but still expected to wear a face covering and maintain 2 meters (6 ft) of distance from other people. The hotel employees will continue wearing face-covering masks and implement additional anti-COVID measures. These include frequent sanitizing of high-touch areas, door handles, counters, tabletops, public area furniture, meeting room doors, restaurant, card swipes, room keys, exterior benches, trash bins, etc. The safety and well-being of our guests and attendees remain our top priority!

Conference Tracks & Topics:
The NAP-2021 Conference continues our tradition of bringing together materials science and engineering experts, emphasizing nanomaterials-related topics:

  • Nanomaterials Synthesis & Self-assembly
  • Thin Films & Coatings
  • Nanoscale Imaging & Characterization
  • Nanophotonics
  • Transport Properties in Nanoscale Systems
  • Nanomagnetism & Magnetic Materials
  • Superconductivity in Nanoscale & Mesoscopic Systems
  • Nanodevices & Sensors
  • Nanomaterials for Energy & Environment
  • Nanobiomedical Research & Applications
  • Theory, Modeling & Interdisciplinary Topics

Plenary/Keynote/Invited Speakers:
We are honored to host world-class invited speakers, including our Plenary Speakers:
– Dr. Anne M. Andrews, Professor of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences and Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of California, Los Angeles;
– Dr. Shaowei Chen, Professor of Chemistry, University of California, Santa Cruz;
– Dr. Yury Gogotsi, Distinguished University, and Charles T. and Ruth M. Bach Professor, Drexel University;
– Dr. Laura H. Greene, Chief Scientist, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Tallahassee and Krafft Professor of Physics, Florida State University;
– Dr. Paul S. Weiss, Presidential Chair, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Bioengineering, and Materials Science & Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles;
– Dr. Gleb Yushin, Professor at the School of Materials and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, and co-Founder of Sila Nanotechnologies, Inc.;
– Dr. Bingqing (B. Q.) Wei, Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Delaware, USA.

Conference Venue:
The Conference will be held in GAGARINN, a four-star hotel & casino located in Arcadia, the vivid tourist area of Odesa. The Black sea, cafes and bars, clubs, live entertainment, museums, and many cultural and historic city attractions are all nearby! 24/7 front desk with English-speaking staff, concierge, gym, on-site restaurant for fine dining, bar, and even casino! We recommend booking directly (sales@gagarinn.com) and ask about our complimentary, free cancellation option up to 48 hours before check-in.

Awards & Grants:
Thanks to the generosity and support of the IEEE NAP-2021 Conference sponsors, we will continue our already traditional “East Meets West” grants program designed to encourage and facilitate the participation of student and WiSE attendees, provide childcare assistance, and organize “Rising Stars in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology” Best Presentation Award competition and “Nanoscience As Art” images contest.

IEEE NAP-2021 is family-friendly:
Are you considering attending the Conference but have no one at home to leave your child with?! Not a problem: we will provide free babysitting services for all potty-trained kids while their Dads and Moms are attending important lectures or delivering their presentations! If interested, please email us ahead of time, and we will be happy to help.

Conference Proceedings:
The accepted abstracts and abstract book will be published on the conference website. Similar to the past IEEE NAP conferences, the conference manuscripts (4+ pages) will be peer-reviewed by independent reviewers and evaluated by the Conference Editors. The papers of good technical quality containing exciting and novel (unpublished) results on one or more topics of the Conference will be recommended for publication in the IEEE Xplore® digital library, indexed by the Scopus (IEEE makes the final decision).

Visiting Ukraine & Transportation:
Odesa International Airport (ODS) is a medium-sized international airport in Ukraine. In total, there are 27 airports around the world that have direct flights to Odessa, spread around 26 cities in 16 countries. IEEE NAP-2021 Organizers will meet & greet our attendees at the airport and help with airport transfer if needed. Citizens from all EU countries, the USA, Canada, and Japan do not need a visa to enter Ukraine for periods of up to 90 days, while citizens of many other countries can obtain an electronic visa online. At this time, upon arrival, all visitors coming to the country (international and Ukrainians), except children under 12 years, are requested to have a negative result of PRC polymerase chain reaction) testing for COVID-19 (note, only PCR results will be accepted) taken 72 hours before crossing the state border.

Additionally, a valid health insurance certificate covering medical emergencies and hospitalizations (including COVID-19 cases) is also required. We monitor the situation and anticipate that these rules will be revised soon because of a steady increase in the number of vaccinated travelers and the overall improvement of the COVID pandemics. In any case, it is always a good idea to contact your health insurance policy provider to make sure you are covered even while traveling internationally.

Having this opportunity, we would to take a minute and express our special THANK YOU to our sponsors and supporters:
